Wasp Nest Removal Moston

Moston is where our patch turns north. For a long time the areas we listed all sat south or west of the centre, so it is worth saying plainly that M40 is covered now, on the same terms as everywhere else, and that a morning phone call from Moston usually means an afternoon visit.

The housing helps the wasps here. Long red-brick terrace rows run off Moston Lane and Kenyon Lane, most of them built before the first war and many still carrying their original roofline timber. Fascias and soffits of that age have shrunk, split and lifted at the ends, and each defect is a doorway. A queen needs an opening about the width of a pencil, and on an older Moston roof she rarely has to search for long. Further out, the semis of New Moston and the streets off Lightbowne Road near Broadhurst Park have deeper eaves and gable-end air bricks, which produce a steady run of cavity-wall jobs from July onwards.

The Brook and the ground nests

Between Moston and Failsworth runs the Moston Brook corridor, a strip of rough grassland, scrub and old tips that has been slowly greened up over the years. It is good foraging country for a colony and good digging country for a queen. Gardens backing onto the corridor, and the allotments near it, give us most of the area’s ground nests, usually announced by someone strimming a bank or turning a compost heap in August. If wasps boil out of a hole in the lawn when the mower passes, stop mowing that strip and give us a ring. Ground colonies are quick to treat and the £60 is the same as for a roof.

Match days at Broadhurst Park bring their own version of the late-summer problem. From August the workers want sugar rather than protein, so anywhere people gather outdoors with drinks and food pulls them in. Foraging wasps around a garden table are an annoyance rather than a treatable problem, but a settled line of traffic into one point on your own house is a nest, and that we can fix.

What you pay in M40

A wasp nest anywhere in Moston costs £60, and that figure is the whole bill. Nothing is added for the call-out, the ladder, a weekend or the size the colony has reached. Hornet nests come under the same £60. Bumblebees are the one exception at £70, and honestly, most bumblebee nests in Moston gardens are better ignored, since the colony fades out by autumn on its own. We treat until the nest is dead: on the rare occasion activity survives the first visit, the return costs nothing.

Getting us out
