Wasp Nest Removal Openshaw

Openshaw runs along Ashton Old Road in tight terraced rows, and the geometry of those streets shapes almost every job we do in M11. Yards are small and walled, houses share party walls and often share loft air, and a nest at one address is quickly a nuisance at three. How wasps get into an Openshaw terrace

Gable ends do a lot of the work here. The end house of each row presents a tall, sun-warmed brick face studded with air bricks, and a cracked or corroded vent is a straight road into the wall cavity. Mid-terrace, the routes are the familiar ones for east Manchester stock: a lifted fascia end at the gutter line, a gap where mortar has fallen from under the coping, or the eaves of a rear extension. Back-yard structures earn their keep too. Coal-shed remnants, brick outhouses and lean-to roofs of corrugated sheet give a queen a dozen dry pockets to choose from, and because these buildings are opened rarely, the nest inside can reach football size before anyone lifts the latch.

Towards the northern edge of the postcode the ground changes character. The scrub and grassland dropping into the Medlock valley at Clayton Vale hold ground-nesting colonies every season, and gardens and allotments near that green edge inherit some of them. A wasp problem that only exists around one corner of a lawn, and gets sharply worse when anything vibrates nearby, is usually a hole-in-the-ground nest rather than anything on the house.

By late summer the shopping end of the district plays its part as well. Bins and food outlets around Lime Square feed thousands of foraging workers in August, which makes stray wasps common everywhere in M11. Foragers are not treatable and not worth paying anyone to chase. A steady in-and-out line at a single point on your own property is the thing that matters, and that is what to look for before ringing.
